The famous Lakshman Jhula of Uttarakhand has been closed to ordinary people. According to the administration, the movement of ordinary people on the bridge has been temporarily halted and can start again soon.

Lakshman Jhula, built over the river Ganga in Rishikesh – Uttarakhand, has been closed for the common pilgrims. Given information about the poor condition of this bridge made on the river, the Administration has issued orders in this regard. According to Rishikesh’s administration, the movement of ordinary people on the bridge has been temporarily stopped and it can be started back soon.

Lakshman Jhula was built on the river Ganga in the year 1930 for 90 years. Connecting both parts of the river is used by pilgrims and local people from all over the world. The administration says that due to the high number of people on this bridge, there was a lot of burden. On seeing the dilapidated condition of the bridge, the administration ordered the closure of it in terms of security.

Possibility of Accident

Earlier this year, the structure of the bridge was conducted in January. During this, the investigating agency had inform the absence of the bridge and the failure of its foot traffic. The agency had also expressed the possibility of an accident in case of overloading of the bridge, in view of which the authorities now ordered the ban on the movement of common people.
