According to a study by the Ministry of Tourism of the Central Government, Rishikesh has been identified as the capital of adventure sports of the country. Rishikesh, the host of the country’s highest bungee jumping platform, along with popular and intense rafting rapids, is the first choice of adventure lovers this year. In terms of choice of adventure lovers, Goa has been second and Kerala at third place. According to Secretary of Tourism, Dilip Jawalkar, the Union Tourism Ministry celebrated in the year 2018 as Adventure Year. Getting such a significant achievement in this year is a matter of respect for tourism of the state. He said that Rishikesh has now been honored not only as Yoga Capital but also the title of Adventure Capital. This is a positive message in favor of proposed Pata-2015 in the coming month of February.
He said that the study of Central Tourism Ministry has also revealed that 25 percent of the people selected Trekking. River rafting proved to be a very popular adventure sport, becoming the preferred choice of 14 per cent Indians. The reason is that there are so many rafting rapids available in India and people like to enjoy rafting as a group.
He said that Bungee Jumping in Rishikesh was an important subject of study. Since its inception in the last eight years, 70,000 jumps have been made from here, which is the international standard established in a short span of time.
Camping in Rishikesh is happening in the form of another important educational activity. Approximately 10 percent of the people chose this option as the medium of Adventure Sport in Rishikesh.
