The Bilkeshwar Mahadev Temple is just 500 meters from Haridwar Railway Station. The temple is situated in Bilva Parvat valley of Haridwar. People come for worshipping the Lord Shiva in this temple. Many people visit this temple every year from different part of the world. Every age group of people can enjoy this place from kids to older ages.

History

The temple is devoted to Lord Shiva . The local people of this place say that the Goddess Parvati used to be here and take some fruit of the Bilva tree as her meals. The temple is also known for austerity for the people to get boons from the Lord Shiva. People also say that Lord Shiva met Parvati first time in this temple. The small temple is surrounded by hills and forest.

There are some small houses inside this temple which are devoted to Lord Hanuman, Ganesh and Goddess parvati.According to the tradition people worship Lord Shiva with Bilva leaves and with the water of Ganga river.

The Gauri Kund is also the most important place for the people, which is just 50meters far from the temple. The Gauri Kund becomes more important during the time of Makar sakranti. It is said that Goddess parvati used bathe in this kund and also take this water to drink during the time of her austerity. Because of this austerity Goddess Parvati became the wife of Lord Shiva.

How to reach

Visitors can reach this temple by train from Dehli to Haridwar, from Haridwar railway station you can go to the temple by walk, the temple is just 500m away from station. Second way is by air you can arrive at the Jolly Grant airport, it is 45km far from the temple from airport you can take taxi to reach this place.
